I borrowed this technique from David Hockney, or maybe I stole it. Hope he doesn’t mind. I used to do it years ago, using a whole roll of camera film. It’s fun to take pictures of sections of a whole room of people, for instance, each shot overlapping and then try to put them together like a jigsaw. When employed on a train, the effect is that you not only get a sense of space, but of time, as the shots are taken over a period of time during which one moves from a tunnel, for instance, into daylight.
